Residents in the Bishops Oak Ride area of Tonbridge will soon be benefit from a NhW Cold Calling Zone. The initiative launched by the Tonbridge & Malling Community Safety Partnership to help residents feel even safer in their community.

Local residents can find out more about the Cold Calling Control Zone at the launch on Tuesday 22 July at the Six In One Club, Northwood Road, Tonbridge at 7pm. Residents will hear from representatives from the Tonbridge & Malling Community Safety Partnership, West Kent Neighbourhood Watch Association, Kent Police and Trading Standards on all aspects of cold calling from door step crime and rogue traders to feeling safe at home and dealing with cold callers with confidence.

Chair of the Community Safety Partnership Strategic Group and Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council’s Chief Executive, David Hughes, says: “The scheme is about reminding legitimate businesses of the correct procedures to follow whilst deterring rogue traders from operating in the area.”

The launch will provide an opportunity for residents to meet and chat about the scheme and what it will mean for their neighbourhood.

David Hughes continues: “We look forward to meeting residents at the launch, and hope that by taking a community approach to controlling cold calling in the area we are helping the whole community to feel even safer.”

This is the first Cold Calling Control Zone to operate in Tonbridge and Malling, and further zones may be introduced in other areas of the borough in the future.
Tonbridge & Malling Community Safety Partnership is running the scheme in partnership with West Kent Neighbourhood Watch Association,
Kent Police and Trading Standards.
